'Events are Back': Tech CEOs Gather to Hear Startup War Stories at J.P. Morgan's One Paseo Office in Del Mar

On Thursday March 7th, a handful of San Diego’s most well-connected technology founders and investors were in attendance at J.P. Morgan’s One Paseo office in Del Mar for a panel conversation organized by Los Angeles-based Mucker Capital.
Neil Senturia, the only San Diego-based investor on the panel, invests in early-stage startups at Blackbird Ventures and NuFund Venture Group, shared his best advice for entrepreneurs seeking to raise capital.
There were two local technology founders on the panel, David Tal who runs a $17 million Series A startup sales software startups called Verse.ai and Jonathan Beck who founded WeGive, a $2.5 million startup focused on helping non-profits raise donations digitally.
Others founders involved in the discussion were LA-based which included Chris Sheng who runs LeadrPro, a business-to-business software startup that has raised $2 million and Khai Nguyen, who runs a holding company and raised over $17 million for his company called Powers Gymnastics last year. Tony Yang, a growth advisor at Mucker Capital, moderated the event.
Founded in 2011, Mucker Capital has seen some notable exits including home services industry software developer Service-Titan Inc. (valued at $10 billion-plus) and Honey Science Corp., which was acquired last year by PayPal for $4 billion.
Mucker has written checks into several San Diego-based startups Wildfire Systems, WeGive, and LoanHero (acquired by LendingPoint in 2018), among others.
