Snapchat Reportedly Planning to Open San Diego Office in 2025

Snap Inc. is reportedly preparing to open a San Diego satellite office in Q1 2025.
The Santa Monica-based company, formerly known as Snapchat, has not signed a lease yet, but is working with Kilroy Realty and is actively looking at new space in Del Mar One Paseo, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The company is still in the early stages of preparing for its office opening, so there is no guarantee of exactly when the publicly traded company will end up and which exact building.
It’s also unclear what work Snap will focus on in San Diego. The company has many businesses lines and research projects, ranging from digital advertising to augmented reality to artificial intelligence chatbots.
Snap is the latest technology giant to expand into San Diego, following others including Apple, Google, Meta, and Amazon — signaling growing interest in San Diego from a technical talent perspective. For example, San Diego is known as a hub for data scientist jobs particularly in fraud and risk.
In February, Snap announced laying off 500 employees to promote in-person collaboration. It has more 5,000 staffers in major markets including Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York, among other tech hubs.
Qualcomm, a leader in the semiconductor industry, has also been in the news recently, reportedly seeking to takeover Intel. In September, the San Diego-based tech giant reduced its headcount by 225 staffers, many of those jobs were in its engineering department, representing less than one percent of its entire workforce.
